Betsy Myers Visited the Elisabeta Palace

Betsy Myers was Chief Operating Officer and Senior Advisor of the electoral campaign of The President of The United States of America Barack Obama. Mrs. Myres is one of the foremost international speakers on the subjects of leadership, organizational development and the role of women in politics.
In the evening, Mrs. Myers and Prince Radu took part in a special edition of ''From East to West'' a program hosted by Bogdan Chirieac. Mrs. Myers told Romanian viewers that the secret of the success of Barack Obama’s campaign was the partnership the President had with the leaders of local communities, as well as the direct communication he had had with people especially the younger generation, the encouragement he gave to people, and the integrity and coherence of his public approach.
In response to Mrs. Myers, Prince Radu outlined his vision for Romanian society, by outlining his view of leadership that could bring about real change and encourage people to participate in the political life of the Nation. Later that evening, Prince Radu and Betsy Myres delivered speeches at the Elisabeta Palace.
Mrs. Myers said that she had the privilege of being part of an historic campaign and that it was also a privilege to be invited to Romania by Their Royal Highnesses in order to share some of the experience and lessons she had learned from her involvement; and to have been given the opportunity to talk about the competency and abilities President Barack Obama has. President Obama considers, that each one of us is a leader and that in a democratic society everyone should be able to have their opinion heard.
Prince Radu said: ''The year 2009 is an extremely important year for Romanian society. Nineteen years after the events of 1989, we live in a Romania that is a member of the EU and NATO, but it is especially significant as it is a time when an entire generation of young people, who belong exclusively to a democracy, can exert its right to vote. For the first time after 1989, we have a part of the electorate that hasn’t been touched in any way by the communist dictatorship. This generation deserves a new type of leadership in Romania. They, like all Romania, deserve a leader who can admit that nobody is born all knowing, but who knows how to listen.'' When asked if he intends to be a candidate in the presidential elections, Prince Radu said that even if he considers the possibility, no decision had been made about that matter. Mrs. Myers said that the only candidate that she would support in the presidential elections is Prince Radu, were he to stand.
There then followed private meetings with personalities from Romanian public life, in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Princess Margarita and Prince Radu. Short biography:
Betsy Myers was the executive manager of The Harvard Center for Public Leadership and the consultant who led Barack Obama’s campaign towards victory. Notably, she was also the first president of the White House Office for Female Initiative during Bill Clinton’s mandate. Mrs. Myers has experience of almost twenty years in executive positions and she has worked directly with world political personalities and leaders, which include Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
She is a renowned leader herself, and has contributed to the reconstruction, development or repositioning of numerous organizations within the areas of governmental, academic and business institutions.
As a former consultant of President Bill Clinton and Chief Operating Officer in Barack Obama’s campaign, Betsy Myers is part of the new generation of women-leaders who promote the concept of leadership to solve conflicts and stimulate change.
