The statue of King Carol I

On December, 6th, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Margarita and Prince Radu of Romania attended, in The Royal Palace Square, the ceremony of unveiling the equestrian statue of HM King Carol I.

Princess Margarita and Prince Radu were greeted upon Their arrival by Prof. Sorin Oprescu, the mayor of Bucharest. The event was attended by members of the Romanian Academy, foreign diplomats, former presidents and prime-ministers of Romania and other personalities.

HRH The Crown Princess and the Mayor unveiled the statue of King Carol I. During the ceremony HRH Prince Radu presented the message of HM King Michael I of Romania.

The equestrian statue of King Carol I is the work of the Romania sculptor Florin Codre, who used as model the initial statue created in 1939 by the Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.
